The tennis season of 2018, started on Tuesday, February 27 against STM. The Blue Gator’s returning players were Sophia Boatright, Emmie Gage, Mustafa Alam, Alison Burgess, Ashleigh Burgess, Ashlee Sandridge, Alaina Hardy, Justin Anderson, Catherine Anderson, Jaime Cordova, Will Kerstetter and Alyse Cormier. Senior Alison Burgess and junior Ashleigh Burgess were first string double partners. Junior Ashleigh states,”It was a good first match, and it was different and fun getting to play with my sister.” Two new players got to start yesterday, Abbie Boland and Virginia Vascocu, as third string double partners, who were successful in winning their first match. Oliver Guillot is also a new player this year and was third string doubles with Evan Calcote, a returning player from two years ago. Oliver states that the game was “fun and exciting, even though I lost.”

As the team took the court everyone was excited and nervous about their first match of the season. In the end the tennis team did well for the first day. Blue Gator tennis started their season off with a tie of 5-5 games against STM. Coach Buck Bobo was very proud of his team and is excited to see what is in the future for our team again. The next home game for the Blue Gators is Thursday, March 8, at 3:30 p.m.
