Ashley Gill is very involved with both the Ascension swim team and COLA swimming, and she has been swimming for most of her life. She started at nine years old when she was living in Utah and started competing when she moved to Louisiana. She made her first junior national cut when she turned fifteen, traveling to Indiana to compete that summer, and a year later, she placed 16th in the nation for the 50-meter butterfly. Following this, Ashley said that “I haven’t been able to compete as much as I would like because of Covid, but I am hoping to have another meet soon!”

After she graduates, she plans to swim at the University of Missouri for the 4 years that she is in attendance, and she plans to make the SEC Championship meet every year that she is there. Her goal is to make an Olympic trial time by her senior year of college. Ashley said, “Swimming means a lot to me and is basically like a career to me because it’s something I do 7-9 times a week. I not only love swimming because of what I can achieve but also because of the team environment. My teammates are what always make swimming so much more enjoyable!”
