Name: Ava Breaux

Grade Started at Ascension: February of Freshman year

Favorite Teacher: “I have loved so many teachers and it’s just so hard to choose just one. A few of my favorite teachers have been Mrs. Small-Stutes, Mrs. Acevedo, Coach Whitt, Mrs. Guidry, and Reverend Kennedy.”

Favorite Ascension Memory: “My favorite memory was playing a card game on the bus as a whole grade on Junior Trip.”

Future Plans: “I will attend UL in the fall to major in Psychology or Communications, with a minor in English. I then plan to continue on to Law School.”

In late September of this school year Ava started a supply drive benefiting Faith House of Lafayette. She said she started the drive not thinking much of it. She always wanted to help a local organization, but she never followed through with it because she always convinced herself it would turn into a disaster. Ava said, “This is the only one that I finally followed through with, and I couldn’t have been more happy about the turn out.” Ava chose Faith House as the recipient of the drive because they are a domestic violence shelter for women and children, and so many people who are unaware of how serious domestic violence is, especially high schoolers. “I wanted to show everyone in that shelter that no matter how low they feel, there is someone in their corner trying to push them past the dark days and shine some light on their future,” stated Ava. These women and children had no control over the situation and were strong enough and brave enough to leave and for that Ava decided they deserve all the love and support in the world!
