This semester, I’ve experienced so much joy. I’ve been focusing more on singing, which is something that I had been putting off. Between that, looking forward to my first prom, and spending time with friends and family, I’ve been busy—but not a distracted kind of busy. It’s the kind of busy where you feel fulfilled and present. All of this made me wonder: what actually brings the students of Ascension real joy? So, I asked some Ascension students!
Corinne- laughing
Bry- painting and having a lazy day/watching TV all day
Charlize- being with her girls and singing for fun
Lilly- laughing with her friends in leadership
Natalya- jet coffee, Jesus
Allie- ballet, shopping, getting ready
Ava- cooking/baking, playing tennis, watercolor painting, skincare/makeup, taking a bath
Graycen- sunsets
Kate- Starting to get tan, fun drinks
Annalise- Country music
Margaret- driving with the sunroof down with friends
Marlie- When her sister comes in town
McAllister- tennis
Joy isn’t something we wait for; it’s something we create. If you’re having end-of-the-year-itis, it’s easy to feel like the days are dragging, but instead of waiting for something to happen, I encourage you to pay attention to the small moments—like laughter, your friends and family, and the things that make days feel a little lighter.
