Started in 1839, the Advent wreath prepares our hearts for the birth of our Savior. It features a wreath of greenery along with four candles, each distinctly colored. We light a candle each Sunday for four weeks until Christmas. Each week has its own meaning and reflection.
Week 1 – November 30, 2025
The first candle is purple, and it is known as the Prophecy Candle. It represents hope as the hope and anticipation of Jesus’ coming.
Week 2 – December 7, 2025
The second candle is also purple, and it is known as the Bethlehem Candle. It represents peace and preparation as we prepare our hearts for Jesus.
Week 3 – December 14, 2025
The third candle is pink, and it is known as the Shepherd’s Candle. It represents joy as we are joyful for the near birth of Jesus. We reflect on the Shepherd’s joy when Jesus was born.
Week 4 – December 21, 2025
The final candle is purple, and it is known as the Angel’s Candle. It represents love as we reflect on the immense love God has for us that he sent Jesus to save us.
Through this reflection, we honor the Lord and all that he has done for us. If you want to read more, visit here. Let’s keep Jesus in our hearts this Advent season.
