Gabby Piasecki – Athletics Prefect

 

  • How do you plan on expanding Athletics?

Gabby: “I will keep the normal stuff and weekly emails as Mike did and add a major event and have something made in Coach Celie’s Honor.”

 

  • How do you plan on including others in activities?

Gabby: “I plan on sending out sports emails and raising more knowledge and awareness about our Ascension sports, especially the lesser-known ones.”

 

  • What is your ideal goal for Ascension?

Gabby: “I will make everyone feel welcome and create better connections within Ascension. I will also create a greater sense of community, get more people involved, and have more fun.” 

 

  • How are you going to support your classmates?

Gabby: “I will be at every sport and dress out. Also, I will be there for others and let others know they are seen, and that their goals are acknowledged.”

 

  • What is your favorite aspect of Ascension?

Gabby: “I like how it is relaxed and feels like a family.”

 

  • What problems do you see in Ascension, and how will you improve them?

Gabby: “I will make others more connected and make others feel more heard.”

Gabby: “Royal blue.”

Gabby: “Sushi”

 

  • What are you involved in at Ascension?

Gabby: “I am involved in Gators for Jesus Club, leadership, volleyball, soccer, tennis, journalism, and Young Life.”

 

  • What is your favorite movie?

Gabby: “Spiderman: No Way Home.”

 

  • How do you plan to be a servant leader?

Gabby: “Giving up my needs for the betterment of Ascension and helping the student body to grow to the best of their abilities.”

 

  • How will you respond to difficult situations next year?

Gabby: “I will take a step back and analyze the situation, use problem-solving skills, and compromise to make decisions. But ultimately, I will make the best decision for Ascension.”

 

  • Tell me about yourself.

Gabby: “I am an uplifting person, and when I do something, I do it 100%. Coach Cellie had a big impact on me and taught me to give my life to Christ and to be compassionate to others and courageous in everything that I do.”

 

  • Any advice to incoming younger classmen?

Gabby: “Join leadership because it’s fun, and you’re never going to regret it. You’ll do things with purpose and live life to the fullest.”

 

  • If you could vacation anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

Gabby: “Go to the Galapagos Islands and see the turtles there.”


 

Jeanne Claire Franques – Academic Prefect

 

  • How do you plan on expanding Academics?

JC: “I plan on making people care more about academics and involving it more in student life.”

 

  • How do you plan on including others in activities?

JC: “I will be working with my team and being open-minded to new ideas and change.”

 

  • What is your ideal goal for Ascension?

JC: “I will help it be the best it can be, boost student morale, and make school more fun.”

 

  • How are you going to support your classmates?

JC: “I will go to events to support my classmates outside of school and always be there for my classmates.”

 

  • What is your favorite aspect of Ascension?

JC: “I love the community, how close everyone is, and having friends in different grades.”

 

  • What problems do you see in Ascension, and how will you improve them?

JC:  The lack of student involvement is a problem, and I will try to get people more involved and increase participation in each and every grade level.”

JC: “Purple and Black.”

JC: “Sushi and Caesar Salad.”

 

  • What are you involved in at Ascension?

JC: “I am a varsity cheerleader and I’m on the Ascension Competition Cheer Team. I was the Publicity Prefect last year and a member of SADD and Young Life.”

JC: “Elvis.”

 

  • How do you plan to be a servant leader?

JC: “I will be productive and lead as a good example for other students and positively impact everyone’s life.” 

 

  • How will you respond to difficult situations next year?

JC: “I will stand up for what I believe in.” 

 

  • Tell me about yourself.

JC: “I am 17 years old, I love animals, traveling, and my dog named Maggie. I am also Jesus’s biggest fan!”

 

  • Any advice to incoming younger classmen?

JC: “Always be yourself, and don’t let anyone tell you to change; it’s important to remember that God made everyone in his perfect image, and you are perfect just the way you are! Stay strong in what you believe in and surround yourself with good people.”

 

  • If you could vacation anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

JC: “ Anywhere tropical, I love the beach. I’m also a big Disney fan and love to visit the parks.”


 

Mamie Mendall – Student Life Prefect

 

  • How do you plan on expanding Student Life?

Mamie: “I plan on expanding Gator Cup games and exploring new games and activities, making a positive impact on the school and peers.”

 

  • How do you plan on including others in activities?

Mamie: “I will be including as many people of different grades in activities.”

 

  • What is your ideal goal for Ascension?

Mamie: “I want to make students want to be there and make it fun for everyone.”

 

  • How are you going to support your classmates?

Mamie: “ I will be the number one fan for the stage or for the field.”

 

  • What is your favorite aspect of Ascension?

Mamie: “ I love the family environment and the feeling that I can be my true self without judgment.”

 

  • What problems do you see in Ascension, and how will you improve them?

Mamie: “I see a lack of effort in school spirit, and I will help increase school spirit.”

Mamie: “Carolina Blue.”

Mamie: “Chicken sandwich from Chick Fil A.”

 

  • What are you involved in at Ascension?

Mamie: “I am a part of the cheerleading team, leadership, SADD, and Younglife.”

Mamie” “All of the High School musicals.” 

 

  • How do you plan to be a servant leader?

Mamie: “I will lead by example and sacrifice my free time to prioritize others’ needs before mine, especially in student life. I want students to have a good time.”

 

  • How will you respond to difficult situations next year?

Mamie: “I will stay strong to what I believe and what is best for the school and the interests of others.”

 

  • Tell me about yourself.

Mamie: “Outside of school, I go to summer camp and have fun with my fellow campers and spend my free time catching up with them and hanging out with friends. I enjoy making friendship bracelets and puzzles. I love my car, a Volkswagen named Diamond Nicole. Also, I  love my family and pets. I like to babysit, and I am a camp counselor.“ 

 

  • Any advice to incoming younger classmen?

Mamie: “Make the most out of high school!!! Be yourself. No one cares if you embarrass yourself in front of the school. It makes memories #YOLO.”

 

  • If you could vacation anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

 

Mamie: “My family lake house outside of Austin, Texas. I am not a big traveler. If I had a choice, I’d pick somewhere I’d know I would love.” 


 

Peyton Peebles – Lead Prefect

 

  • How do you plan on expanding Leadership?

Peyton: “My goal this year is to improve how we communicate and work together. Sometimes we work individually where we would be better as a team.” 

 

  • How do you plan on including others in activities?

Peyton: “I would like to offer the student body to work more with class leaders and get people more involved in school activities.”

 

  • What is your ideal goal for Ascension?

Peyton: “I want everyone to be able to make memories with their friends. I have been blessed with coming here my whole life, and I have made amazing memories with all of my friends. I want other students to have the same opportunities.”

 

  • How are you going to support your classmates? 

Peyton: “I want them to have fun and be able to relax. School can be a stressful time for students, and I want the things that leadership puts on to be opportunities for students to be able to relax and not worry about schoolwork and grades.”

 

  • What is your favorite aspect of Ascension?

Peyton: “My favorite aspect about Ascension is the relationships that I have made. I have bonded with my fellow students and my teachers, and I have really enjoyed getting to know them and talking to them. I also love how close our school is to each other. At bigger schools, students don’t get the opportunity to know their fellow students personally, but at Ascension, everyone knows everyone.”

 

  • What problems do you see in Ascension, and how will you improve them?

Peyton: “I have heard of students not feeling like they belong. I want to improve this by encouraging students to invite new friends into their group and just talk to them and make them feel like they are seen and heard.” 

 

  • What is your favorite color?

Peyton: “Yellow.”

 

  • What is your favorite food?

Peyton: “Italian or Mexican.” 

 

  • What are you involved in at Ascension?

Peyton: “I am involved in football, track and field, Young Life, Beta Society, National Honor Society, National Honor English Society, Critical Analysis of Film in the 21st Century Club, and I am a part of the leadership team.”

 

  • What is your favorite movie? 

Peyton: “The Dark Knight.”

 

  • How do you plan to be a servant leader?

Peyton: “I want to allow other students to be heard. I want to let other students know that they are heard and if they have any ideas for anything to bring them to the leadership team. We want to help students enjoy every second of their high school career, so if you have anything that you think could make our school better, bring it to us, and we will do our best to see it through.”

 

  • How will you respond to difficult situations next year?

Peyton: “I will remain calm and analyze the situation. Remaining calm will help me make level-headed decisions and not get flustered under pressure. Analyzing the situation will allow me to figure out the best solutions for the situation.”

 

  • Tell me about yourself.

Peyton: “I have two brothers, one older and one younger. I love to work out and be in the student section for sporting events. I have been a part of the leadership team since 8th grade, and I have enjoyed every minute of it.”

 

  • Any advice to incoming younger classmen? 

Peyton: “I would say to get involved and enjoy every second that you have because it will be over before you know it.”

 

  • If you could vacation anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

Peyton: “I would like to go to either Japan or on a tour of Europe. I have heard about how beautiful both of these places are and would love to visit them someday.”


Leah Franques- Publicity Prefect 

 

  • How do you plan on expanding Publicity?

 

Leah: “My goal as publicity prefect is to create unity both at SMP and throughout all three campuses. I will create a fun environment and want to expand my role by giving tours to prospective families at SMP. I will also continue the social media impact with the Tik Tok and Instagram accounts.”

 

  • How do you plan on including others in activities? 

 

Leah: “I will hold regular meetings with my 5 class leaders and will seek their ideas and input. I will listen carefully and share the information with the leadership team. This will help me create trust and a spirit of cooperation.” 

 

  • What is your ideal goal for Ascension?

 

Leah: “I want to foster the school’s mission – Educational excellence in a Christian environment where students’ mind, spirit, and body are all nurtured. I will incorporate the core values – gentle, generous, truthful, kind and brave into my daily life to make Ascension the best place for everyone.”

 

  • How are you going to support your classmates? 

 

Leah: “I use the FIT motto I learned over my many years at Camp Ozark. First Is Third – I place God first, others second, and myself third. I will put the needs of others ahead of my own.”

 

  • What is your favorite aspect of Ascension? 

 

Leah: “My favorite aspect of Ascension is the sense of family. I have been Blue Gator since I was four years old, and Ascension is my second home. Teachers and coaches are like “school moms and dads,” and friends have become sisters and brothers.”

 

  • What problems do you see in Ascension, and how will you improve them? 

 

Leah: “I learned the “Ascension Way” from my three older siblings. I want to see our traditions continue while also creating a new culture for the next generation of Blue Gators.”

 

  1. What is your favorite color?

 

Leah: “My favorite color is pink.”

 

  1. What is your favorite food?

 

Leah: “My favorite food is pasta.”  

 

  1. What are you involved in at Ascension?

 

Leah” “I took my passion for the medical field to start the first HOSA chapter at Ascension and serve as its first President. I have been a class leader for three years. I have been a member of the Gator Jazz since Freshman year. For her Senior year, I will be on the Competition Cheerleading team. I am also a member of several honor societies – National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, National Social Studies Honor Society, and Beta Club. 

 

  1. What is your favorite movie?

 

Leah: “I love all horror movies!”

 

  1. How do you plan to be a servant leader?

 

Leah: “I strive to be a servant leader and focus on ways to influence Ascension in a positive way by my actions and attitudes. I try to be friendly and approachable and make sure all students feel welcome.”

 

  1. How will you respond to difficult situations next year?

 

Leah: “This year has been challenging and sad dealing with the losses of our beloved teachers. I learned that flexibility and patience are great life skills to deal with difficult situations. I will continue to respond to these events by being an active listener.”

 

  1. Tell me about yourself.

 

Leah: “I am energetic and enthusiastic and live life to the fullest. I love ballet and have been dancing at Lafayette Ballet Theatre since first grade. I am now in the Upper Division and perform in the Nutcracker and Spring Ballet every year.  

 

  1. Any advice to incoming younger classmen? 

 

Leah: “I would tell them to get involved – sports, theater, leadership, choir – whatever they are interested in or try something new, but do something. This will help you to feel connected. Learn to manage your time – it is less stressful when assignments are due if you are organized. Stay true to yourself – don’t change who you are to try to fit in. You will find your true friends by being yourself. Enjoy high school – it goes fast!”

 

  1. If you could vacation anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

 

Leah: “Somewhere in Asia where I can immerse myself in the unique culture and try new things and get a perspective on life on  the other side of the world.”


 

Annie Boudreaux – Arts Prefect

 

  • How do you plan on expanding the Arts?

 Annie: “I am thinking about doing a spring event rooted in the arts, so the school can grow a greater appreciation for the arts.”

 

  • How do you plan on including others in activities?

Annie: “I have an idea of doing art-based student life games, so the students will be more involved in drama and artistic activities at Ascension.”

 

  • What is your ideal goal for Ascension?

Annie: “I want everybody to have an amazing experience.” 

 

  • How are you going to support your classmates?

Annie: “I will always listen to problems and give advice to the Student Body. I will also go to all the events to support my classmates.”

 

  • What is your favorite aspect of Ascension?

Annie: “My favorite aspect is the sense of community and how it feels like home. Also, all of the teachers genuinely care about the students.”

 

  • What problems do you see in Ascension, and how will you improve them?

Annie: “Have more involvement with the students at pep rallies and more participation instead of making fun of the event.”

 

  • What is your favorite color?

Annie: “Pink!”

 

  • What is your favorite food?

Annie: “Chocolate chip cookie dough.”

 

  • What are you involved in at Ascension?

Annie: “I am involved in Track, Cheer, Swim, Beta Club, and I’m the President of the Mental Health Club, and I’m  a part of the Leadership team.”

 

  • What is your favorite movie? 

Annie: “Any old Barbie movie or Little Women.”

 

  • How do you plan to be a servant leader?

Annie: “If any student ever needs help, I will help them to the best of my abilities.”

 

  • How will you respond to difficult situations next year?

Annie: “I will face adversity head-on and not back down and do anything to find a solution to the problem.”

 

  • Tell me about yourself.

Annie: “I love to bake. It helps to relieve stress. My favorite thing to do is hang out with family. I am very close with my family. I love God and love to read my Bible. I always try to be kind to others and love doing paint by number.”

 

  • Any advice to incoming younger classmen? 

Annie: “Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there; once you do, it will improve your high school experience.”

 

  • If you could vacation anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

Annie: “France or Italy: both are for food. Italy has pasta, and France has pastries.”


 

Noah Trawick – Community Service Prefect

 

  • How do you plan on expanding Community Service?

Noah: “One thing I am going to do is continue the chili cook-off and increase the popularity of public opinion on community service. Also, I will create more incentives for community service.”

 

  • How do you plan on including others in activities?

Noah: “I will make sure the public has a general knowledge about projects and know short and long-term the impacts of community service.”

 

  • What is your ideal goal for Ascension?

Noah: “ I want to create a fun community with tons of school spirit and student involvement.”

 

  • How are you going to support your classmates? 

Noah: “I will be there for my classmates by being someone that can listen.”

 

  • What is your favorite aspect of Ascension?

Noah: “ My favorite aspect of Ascension is the community.”

 

  • What problems do you see in Ascension, and how will you improve them?

Noah: “I will be focusing on Ascension’s core values and maintaining community values.”

Noah: “I am involved in Beta, English Honors Society, Young Life, Tennis, Swim, Basketball, and  Leadership.”

Noah: “I plan to work hard and be efficient in my role. Also, to be there for people and lead by example.”

Noah: “Stay true to my values and the values of the school and work hard.”

Noah: “I care about others a lot. I have a dog named Cash. I love animals, my family, and my friends. I enjoy reading and playing sports.”

Noah: “Work hard and have fun.”

 

  • If you could vacation anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

Noah: “Iceland, to see the Northern Lights and to see something different that is secluded from the world.”


 

Beau Domengeaux – Spiritual Life Prefect

 

  • How do you plan on expanding Spiritual Life?

Beau: “I will be offering more opportunities for people to express their faith at school.” 

 

  • How do you plan on including others in activities?

Beau: “I will be making sure to invite the whole school to the Spiritual Life Lock-In. Also, I will  make it easy for people to attend.”

 

  • What is your ideal goal for Ascension?

Beau:  For Ascension to be a school everyone is excited to attend, and everyone is happy to be there.”

  • How are you going to support your classmates? 

Beau: “I will go to sporting events and student life events to support my fellow classmates and friends, and I am willing to help people when needed.”

 

  • What is your favorite aspect of Ascension?

Beau: “ I love the people. Everyone is unique and fun to hang out with.” 

 

  • What problems do you see in Ascension, and how will you improve them?

Beau: “I am going to increase student attendance at events by spreading school spirit.”

Beau: “Blue.”

Beau: “My Dad’s Crawfish Etouffee.”

 

  • What are you involved in at Ascension?

Beau: “I am a member of football, track, Young Life, Chess Club, and Leadership.”

Beau: “I’ve seen too many movies to pick one.” 

 

  • How do you plan to be a servant leader?

Beau: “I will plan to take the opinions and ideas of everyone at school and take them into consideration and represent them as best as I can.”

 

  • How will you respond to difficult situations next year?

Beau: “I will be working through the situations with peers and finding a solution that benefits everyone.”

 

  • Tell me about yourself.

Beau: “I love to pole vault in New Iberia. I like to bake and eat food. I have a brother and sister in college. I also really look up to Coach D.”

 

  • Any advice to incoming younger classmen? 

Beau: “Put yourself out there and try new things so you can find something you are passionate about.” 

 

  • If you could vacation anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

Beau: “ I would go backpacking in Europe because it has everything: cool experience, beaches, mountains, and cities.”
