Last Friday, March 30th AES held its first Spring Carnival. This was an event that took a lot of planning by both teachers and students.
It was a perfect spring day filled with games, music, and fun.
The carnival was put on as a fundraiser for student activities. It was open to all AES students grades Pre-K – 8th, while all upper school students were asked to participate in working the carnival for service hours.
There were 11 fun jumps and more than 10 different booths, such as arts and crafts, face painting, ring toss, win a fish, bowling, and many more.
Throughout the day, there was live music playing, courtesy of students like Alex Voorhies, Samantha Sawvel, Michael Trahan, James Leininger, Brett Chalpin, Jack Bennett. Mr. Lyles and his ensemble also performed.
After much preparations, the carnival was a huge success for community-building and fundraising, but, according to Mrs. Arabie, the final dollar amount has not yet been tallied. Everyone seemed to have a wonderful time, and will hopefully start a tradition at AES as an annual event that students can look forward to.
“The success of the carnival exceeded my expectations,” said Ms. Arabie. “I was most impressed by the leadership of the Upper School students. This event really was student-driven. I am proud of all students who stepped up and helped to make the 1st Annual SMP Carnival a huge success.”.
Head Prefect Connor Day said, “The carnival was a great success, and it was very exciting to establish what will hopefully be a long lasting tradition.”
