AES Students Dominate at Mathcounts Tournament

AES Students Dominate at Mathcounts Tournament

On Saturday March 3, 32 middle and upper school students participated in the 2012 Lafayette High Math Tournament. This year our school did very well by placing 1st overall in the entire competition. Also the school placed 2nd in Interschool Team Test.

Several individuals also represented Ascension with distinction this year. Andrew Butcher, Erin Patin, Dusty Chalmers, and Heath Headley placed 2nd in the Calculus Team test and the Middle School Team test placed 3rd. Zach Hartfield, Jenna Partimbene, and Victoria Topham competed in the Potpourri Team test and placed 4th overall.

The individual results were:

Algebra I- Zach Hartfield 2nd place, Rhea Kataria 6th place

Geometry- Bret Chalpin 1st place

Algebra II- Andre Guidry 4th place

Pre-Calculus- Michael Trahan 1st place, Zach Inzerella 5th place

Calculus- Dusty Chalmers 2nd place, Andrew Butcher 3rd place.
