This year’s prom theme was A Night in New York, and lots of New York-themed decorations. They had a wall with all of the seniors’ faces with a playbill heading on top to make it look like we were part of a show in New York. They also had our senior gifts, which were cookies with all of our names on them, and they had a New York skyline design on them as well. Next to the cookies were other desserts for everyone, such as chocolate-covered pretzels and chocolate-covered strawberries. They also had a bar area that was serving lemonade, water, and sodas. They also had a photo booth with all kinds of props we could use to take pictures with, which was nice. The sophomores also had ” Guess Who ” games with all the seniors’ faces, so people could play ” Guess Who ” with the seniors when they were taking a break from dancing. They also had framed pictures from all throughout our senior year on the tables, which was really sweet because it reminded us of all the memories that were made throughout the year so far. I did not personally have a date, but my friend Gabby and I both brought friends from different schools. It was so nice to have them experience our last prom together because they both previously went to Ascension but ended up leaving, so it felt like a full circle moment. The tables had navy blue tablecloths to go with the night’s theme, and red roses on all the tables to dress them up. Amir was also the DJ for the night and played lots of different kinds of music, like he usually does, and had lights flashing onto the dance floor to match the party vibes. The king and queen were announced at about nine o’clock, which was an hour after the dance started, and our 2026 prom king and queen were Jack and Ava Cope. It was sweet because if you didn’t know, they are twins, so it was so awesome to see the siblings win the king and queen titles. The dance ended at around 10:30, but we were able to leave at around 10, as we are allowed to leave 30 minutes before the actual dance ends. The dance was really fun, the only bad thing was that it got hot really easily, so I had to take breaks and go and stand under the AC that was blowing in a certain direction. This night was definitely one to remember, and I am so grateful to everyone who helped put it on and everyone who was there to share memories together for our last prom ever.

Hi guys! My name is Mary Frances Durio, and I will be a senior this school year. I have been at Ascension since third grade and while being here I have been involved in many extracurricular activities such as softball, volleyball, tennis and leadership. I have one sibling who is a sophomore this year. Some things I like to do in my free time are hanging out with friends and family, reading, and watching movies. This is my second year in journalism, and I am so excited to be a part of this team!
