This past Friday, we had our annual spiritual life bonfire, which is put on by our spiritual life team. It was filled with lots of games, food, and talks. They even lined up for two alumni to come and talk, Mamie Mendell and Peyton Peebles. The team provided pizza and had all the ingredients to make s’mores by the fire. We started off the night playing a game that involved everyone, which was nice. We then listened to some people sing a worship song to get us in the spiritual mood. After the singing was done, Mamie came and talked to us as a group. She talked about her life at college and how she grew in her faith. We were then split up into small groups by grades, and my group was with senior girls, Mrs. Robert, and Ms. G, and that was the best part of the night for me. It was just so refreshing to talk to the group about everything Mamie had just talked about, and more questions related to our spiritual journey. After our small group discussion, we then moved inside to play more games like spike ball and do arts and crafts, such as making bookmarks for our Bibles. After spending some time on that, we then listened to more people sing worship music to get us back into the spiritual mood. Peyton then talked about his spiritual journey, and after he did, we had small groups again to do the same thing we did after Mamie’s talk. After that, I had to leave at around 11 o’clock, but I was so glad I got to go. I am so glad our schools have things like this for us to be able to connect as a community in a spiritual way.

Hi guys! My name is Mary Frances Durio, and I will be a senior this school year. I have been at Ascension since third grade and while being here I have been involved in many extracurricular activities such as softball, volleyball, tennis and leadership. I have one sibling who is a sophomore this year. Some things I like to do in my free time are hanging out with friends and family, reading, and watching movies. This is my second year in journalism, and I am so excited to be a part of this team!
