This year, I decided to audition for Shrek the Musical. I ended up getting the Dragon, and I’m so incredibly glad that I decided to be a part of the cast. Performing my dream role since I was 13 was such an amazing opportunity. The directors gave me such freedom during my song, “Forever,” and I was really able to make it my own and have fun. All of the cast members were so incredibly kind and welcoming. I’ve made so many new friends during this experience and was able to be a role model for the younger students on the Downtown campus. Many kids from the lower school wrote me the sweetest letters on the last day of the show, and I was tearing up reading them, knowing that I was able to influence them to keep performing and reach their goals. It made my heart happy to receive so many letters and flowers from all of my friends and family who came to support me during this show. I’ve said too many “thank you’s” to count this week, but I’m grateful that I could share my gift with people in my community. Not only was it so much fun to perform a fun and powerful song, but I’ve learned so many life lessons through this experience that I can take with me “forever” 🙂

Hi, my name is Sadie Guillory, and I’ve been at Ascension for 5 years. I’m the Junior Secretary for the NHS and an ambassador this year, and have been a part of the Spanish Club and Scrapbooking Club in previous years. Outside of school, I sing at Valerie’s Vip Studio, where I participate in concerts. I also ride horses competitively, traveling to Texas, Florida, Mississippi, and Virginia. I’ve always had a love for writing, so I think Journalism will be a great class to encompass that. I am excited to share my passion for creative writing with Ascension!
