Martha Odom is excited to experience her senior year here at Ascension! Some extracurriculars and clubs she is involved in here at Ascension include the soccer team, Mr. Shome’s Creative Writing Club, Ascension Ambassadors, and the Theater program. Outside of school, Martha does a lot of dancing, even participating in The Nutcracker every year since third grade. In the little amount of free time she has, Martha listens to a lot of music (even going record shopping), explores the boba places around Lafayette to try their boba and Korean corn dogs, hangs out with her favorite people, and writes, going on to win contests, including winning the Writes of Spring twice. She says her favorite thing about Ascension is the teachers because they are excellent and help students reach their full potential. If Martha had to describe herself in three words, she would say she is empathetic, bubbly, and patient. Some fun facts about Martha are that she is a descendant of Samuel Morse, the inventor of Morse code, she is bad at spelling, and she is allergic to any drinks with electrolytes. If she could give some advice to younger students at Ascension, Martha says to do everything you can, meaning to sign up for every sport, play, and club you are interested in, even if you don’t think you have enough time. She says that this is the best way to make memories while getting to know yourself.
