One of the best things about Ascension is how they offer classes at different levels and a variety of electives to give their students every chance to succeed. Each student picks their courses in accordance with what is manageable for them, yet also provides somewhat of a challenge. As an eighth grader or a freshman, students can choose from college prep and accelerated honors classes for the core subjects (Math, Science, English, History, Foreign Language). However, entering sophomore year, a student can start choosing to take advanced placement (AP) classes as well as Dual Enrollment classes. Classes under AP and Dual Enrollment are typically chosen by students because they show a rigorous high school resume. Besides the core classes, Ascension offers electives that allow students to express their interests. After completing a course, or obtaining all of their credits for that subject, students can choose an elective expressing their interests whether it’s art, theater, music, forensics, or researching and constructing a project about a different passion in independent study. Overall, through offering these choices in their courses, Ascension has proved to separate itself from other schools.

Amelia Cleveland, Staff Writer
Hi! I’m Amelia Cleveland, and I will be a senior this year. I have been at Ascension since eighth grade and while I’ve been at this school, I have been a part of the soccer team while also running on the track and field team and cross country team. Outside of school, I spend my time hanging out with my friends, babysitting, going to the gym, and doing art, specifically drawing and painting. Being a part of the Creative Writing Club, I can say that I love writing and can’t wait to be part of the journalism team again in my last year at Ascension!
