Katherine Voigt came to Ascension in eighth grade, and she has made many memories since then. Before Katherine moved to Lafayette, she lived in New Orleans. She believes that living in Lafayette and New Orleans are the same. However, the only difference is the people. Lafayette’s community is more welcoming and in New Orleans, she had no connection with anyone. She never wishes to move back as she states, “I am very happy staying here in Lafayette and Ascension with all my friends and now family”. While creating memories here, her favorite things to do are playing beach volleyball and hanging out with her friends and family.

Katherine knew Ascension was her new home because of how friendly everyone was. She has participated in volleyball, soccer, track, National Honor Society, and the History BETA Club. Her favorite thing at Ascension is the student body because they become family and are all welcoming. In addition, she enjoys the curriculum because the teachers are very understanding and make connections with the students rather than just being a high school teacher. Lastly, her advice to the underclassmen is, “Have fun and don’t take the little things too seriously. I also recommend going to as many Ascension functions and games as you can go to because one day it will be your last.”
