Touchdown, Gators! Score six! Friday, October 19 was Ascension’s annual Pink Out game and Senior Night. Festivities began at 6:40 pm sharp, with a field presentation of senior football players. Senior cheerleaders were then presented during half time.

Varsity cheer held multiple bake sales throughout the day, and they sold pink lemonade during the football game. With the help of the Ascension community, the varsity cheer squad were able to raise a whopping $1,347.11 for Miles Perret Cancer Services. Senior and varsity co-captain Sidney Ortego said, “The fact that not only the cheer squad came together but our Ascension community in order to raise money for Miles Perret showed me just how supportive the people around me really are!” Those currently fighting cancer and those who have won their battle were also honored during the fourth quarter.

Of course, the Gators did manage to score six, a few times actually. Seniors Jhalen Brown and Seth Kerstetter scored a number of touchdowns to lead the Gators to a 48-12 victory over the Loureauville High Tigers. When asked of the impact the crowd makes on the performance of players, sophomore quarterback Cole Simon stated, “The energy of the crowd really motivates us to give it all we’ve got. An excited crowd really helps to lift players spirits whether they realize it or not.”
