“You’ve gotta have heart, all you really need is Heart.”

For those of you not versed in all thing musical theatre, the quote above is the opening lines of the song “Heart” from the musical Damn Yankees.  Heart is exactly what it’s all about!

When Joshua McClymont accepted the position at Ascension as the Director of Fine Arts he immediately set several things in motion to bring both increased advancement and greater recognition to our Arts Departments on all three campuses.  Creating the Fine Arts Alliance (FAA), which is like the Booster Club for the Arts, was one of his first goals.

Once established they implemented a program called “Heart for the Arts”.  Heart for the Arts is both a fundraiser and a week long showcase for the Arts at Ascension.

Last Sunday, the choirs and theatre students from both the SMP and DT campus performed to a packed house in the Moncus Theatre at the Acadiana Center for the Arts (ACA) Downtown. This was followed Monday night with an Art auction and Gala to raise money for the Arts programs at the school.  

Art from all 3 campuses will remain on display this weekend at the ACA.  If you have not had a chance to check it out…GO!! There are some incredibly talented artists in our school and you only have until Saturday to see their fantastic work.
