It’s Fall Y’all!

We all have our favorite season, and as much as I love summer, there’s something so captivating about fall. While we may live in Louisiana and are accustomed to hot, humid weather most of time, there is always a calm, fresh feeling to the fall air. Who can resist the changing colors of the leaves and most importantly THE FOOD? You know those pillsbury cookies with the little pumpkins on them? Yeah, those. I think we can all agree those are the best cookies in the world. But those cookies are only one of the many reasons to enjoy fall. Here are five fun things that you can do with your friends this fall season:

Go to a pumpkin patch!

Going to the pumpkin patch is one of the best traditions of fall! Though you may be too old for the hayride, you’re never too old to walk aimlessly around hundreds of pumpkins until you find the “perfect” one. The Covenant United Methodist Church’s Annual Pumpkin Patch is open everyday this month, so go check it out!

Carve a pumpkin!

Pumpkin carving is one of the most popular activities that happens around Halloween time. Even if you’re like me and have very little artistic ability, carved pumpkins don’t look bad even if they aren’t well carved. This activity, though it can get messy, is super fun and a great way to spend time with your friends or family. Olivia Brown, Senior, says “One of my favorite fall traditions is after cleaning out the insides of the pumpkin, we roast the pumpkin seeds in the oven!”

Binge watch your favorite Halloween movies!

October has arrived, and that means Halloween movies and marathons are on the way! There’s no better feeling than bundling up with your best pals and watching movies. Some classic halloween movies to watch this fall are Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown, Twitches, Casper Meets Wendy, Spooky Buddies, The Haunted Mansion, and so many more!

Bake (or if you can’t bake, just eat)!

Some of the sweetest and most delicious treats make their debut during the fall time! I don’t know about you but, I’m a sucker for anything pumpkin flavored. I’m also a fan of the pumpkin spice latte at Starbucks, but who isn’t? If you’re looking for a good way to pass time with your friends, Pinterest has TONS of fall dessert recipes to get you started. (And as I mentioned before, you can’t go wrong with those little pillsbury cookies, and they’re just so easy to make.)

Go to a Halloween Attraction!

Some people love the thrill of being scared and watching horror movies, and others (like myself) are total wimps when it comes to the whole “horror” thing. It might sound odd, but braving through a haunted house and running from chainsaw killers with your best friends is a great bonding experience. To get in the spirit of Halloween, I went to Fright Trail last weekend and, much to my surprise, the only time I felt truly terrified was when a little girl started to chase me with a baseball bat. But it was pretty scary, not gonna lie. Fright Trail, 13th Gate, and Necropolis are just three haunted attractions in Louisiana that might give you a chance to face your fears and make memories with your pals.
