2017+Art+Rally+Results

Art Rally is the Visual Arts side of the Literary Rally. Each school participating in this contest is allowed to choose five art pieces to compete against other schools from all over the district. The contest is held by the Arts Department at University of Louisiana at Lafayette. There are various categories the you can place in, which are: drawing, painting, print-making, multi-media, sculpture, photography, and digital design.

This year five of our Ascension students participated and four students were awarded. Sarah Smith submitted a self portrait made from chalk pastels. She was entered in the Drawing category. Sarah Beadle was awarded second place in the Mixed Media category. She entered a unique abstract painting using acrylic paint, wire, and glass. Anne Marie Butcher placed second in the Sculpture category with her hand, plaster sculpture. Sydney Smith entered in a self portrait made by charcoal materials. She placed third is the Drawing category. Then, Ethan was awarded first place in the Photography category.

The art pieces from these student is currently being shown at University of Louisiana at Lafayette in Fletcher Hall Room 207. Congratulations to everyone who competed in Art Rally!
