In the second round of playoffs on February 6, the Ascension Blue Gators took the win against Lafayette Christian Academy. The final score of the game was a whooping 7-0 for the gators! This was the first round of the playoffs played by the Lady Gators due to a bye from the first round. Ascension is currently ranked first in the state power rankings for girls Division IV soccer. The Gators played a fantastic game last night with precise passing and shots on target. Six of the seven goals were scored by Sarah Beadle, along with a wonderful goal by Quinn Billeaud.

The team spent the weekend prior to the game at Cypremort Point. The team used this little weekend getaway to become closer to each other as teammates and friends. They played games such as ultimate frisbee and (of course) a little soccer, played some sardines and hide-n-seek, made s’mores by a camp fire, and took a boat ride out on the Gulf of Mexico. Tons of memories were made on this trip, including Quinn Billeaud jumping into the cold water after throwing the cast net into the water without a rope to pull it back up. This trip was all around a great experience for the entire team. Greer Leleux said, “You could see the differences in the relationships and stronger connections that took place on the field, I really do think that this trip greatly influenced the way we played.”

The girls will play in the quarter finals some time in the following week. The girls are ecstatic to get the opportunity to play together in the playoffs with the sate championship on their mind. They have a goal set, and plan to achieve it. Lets wish our lady gators the best of luck!!
