You must be Jamaican, because Jamaican me crazy

Some people think that pick-up lines are foolish and moronic, while others use them regularly to engage a conversation with a person they’re interested in.

Everyone hears the classic, cheesy pick up-lines all the time. For instance, “Are you from Tennessee? [No, why?] Because you’re the only ten I see!” or “If I could rearrange the alphabet , I would put U and I together”.  This week, The Authored Ascension asked some students about their opinions on pick-up lines, and this is what they shared with us.

Senior Patrick Bean claims he “lets his eyes do the talking”. Although, he has a few favorite pick-up lines he enjoys. For example, “How much does a polar bear weigh? Enough to break the ice”. Also he joked, “Is your dad a baker? Because you’ve got a nice set of buns” and “Are you an astronaut because girl, you’re out of this world”.

Senior Emily Duplechain overheard the interview with Patrick, started hysterically laughing and said, “Are your lips Skittles? Because I want to taste the rainbow”.

Freshman Nick Padgett was quick to answer when he was asked what his favorite pick-up line is. He replied, “Did you come from heaven? Because you look like an angel” and “When God made you, he was showing off”.

Junior Victoria Barczyk isn’t a big fan of pick-up lines. “I know exactly how I would reply to a pick-up line” says Victoria. Her favorite “anti” pick-up line is:

Guy: Haven’t I seen you someplace before?

Victoria: Yes, that’s why I don’t go there anymore.

Mr. Case knows many scientific pick-up lines (of course). His favorite general pick-up line is, “Have you ever been arrested? Because it’s a felony to look that good”.

As you can see, pick-up lines might be a tad bit outdated, but they sure are funny!
