While I am working on my MCU Infinity Saga ranking, I realized that I probably could not get it done by this week. As a result, since there is lots of news regarding stuff I like, I decided to discuss some news about them, and share my thoughts. Not to mention that in my review of Superman (2025), I promised to give my thoughts on Man of Tomorrow. Even though this is technically Part 1, there is a chance that this is only a one time thing, depending on how busy I am with life, and depending on how well this does.

On September 3, 2025, James Gunn (director of Superman, Guardians of the Galaxy, and The Suicide Squad, and CEO of DC Studios) confirmed that Man of Tomorrow, a follow-up of Superman (2025), will release in July 2027 on his Instagram and Twitter, with artwork of Corenswet’s Superman and Hoult’s Lex Luthor. Many fans are excited, as Superman (2025) was considered by fans to be pretty Super, Man (please check out Superman (2025) Review: Is it Super, Man? If you had not already after you read this article). James Gunn has described Man of Tomorrow as a team-up between Superman and Lex Luthor, and also as not an actual sequel to Superman (2025). As a result, fans are speculating about who will be the villain for Man of Tomorrow. The most popular villain that people are speculating is Brainiac since both Superman and Lex Luthor teamed up against him in the past, and Brainiac is as powerful as Superman and as smart as Lex Luthor. Also, Lex Luthor in the artwork of Superman and Lex Luthor that James Gunn posted to his social media has the same outfit as Lex Luthor from LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, where Brainiac was the villain. In my opinion, I am a little bit mixed on Man of Tomorrow being a team-up movie between Lex Luthor and Superman because on one hand, their dynamic could be fun and James Gunn is currently five for five with superhero movies. However, in Superman (2025), we clearly saw that Lex Luthor hated Superman, so I am not sure it would make sense for them to team up. Also, Lex Luthor literally got arrested for pretty much treason, so I do not really know how he was not on death row or life in prison for that. Lex Luthor was my favorite character from the first movie, so I am not necessarily complaining if we get more of him. I guess money can buy one out of a prison cell if one has enough of it. Either way, I will be okay with it if the writing is good and if Superman and Luthor do not end on good terms. As for Man of Tomorrow somehow not being a Superman sequel, I do not know how that would be the case since it appears to have both Superman and Lex Luthor. I guess since it is a team-up movie, it is not a 100% Superman sequel, but we will just have to wait and see.

(Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games box art by SEGA, from Amazon)
On October 6, 2025, SEGA revealed that they signed a multi-year contract with the Olympics, where new merch of Sonic and the Olympics will be released in 2026, with probably other stuff as well. As a result of this, many think that there will be a new Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games game, only this time, without Mario. Ever since the 2008 Olympics, Nintendo, SEGA, and the Olympics came together for every Olympic to make a Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games game. That was, until 2024, where there was no Mario or Sonic at the Olympics. Apparently, that was done because the Olympics wanted to prioritize NFTs instead of renewing their contract with Nintendo and SEGA. It seems like the Olympics could not live with the failures of their NFTs. So where did that bring them? Back to SEGA. Neither SEGA nor the Olympics announced a new game, so for now, their collaboration is just merch, but we could probably see a Sonic at the Olympic Games video game at some point. The reason why Mario is probably no longer involved is because Nintendo is angry at SEGA that Sonic Racing Crossworlds was better received than Mario Kart World, and that SEGA included many jabs at Mario Kart for the marketing of Sonic Racing Crossworlds. Also, SEGA developed the previous Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games games (with the exception of the 2020 Olympics, which was developed by the developer of the Mario and Luigi series, Alphadream, right before they went out of business), so it would make sense that if the Olympics had the intention of making a new game, that they went to SEGA, because they have the experience. As someone who played a little bit of Mario and Sonic at the 2012 London Olympic Games, I am excited to see how that will play out. Even though it is not confirmed, there probably will be a new Sonic at the Olympic Games (with or without Mario), so if that is the case, that will be very exciting.

(Sonic X Shadow Generations box art by SEGA. Image from Amazon.)
Earlier this month, it was reported that SEGA filed a trademark for Shadow the Hedgehog. As a result, many people are speculating what it could be about. Some think we could be getting a new Shadow the Hedgehog game, a remake of 2005’s Shadow the Hedgehog, a new movie starring Shadow the Hedgehog, a TV show, or a second Fearless Year of Shadow. However, there is a chance that the trademark does not mean much, or SEGA just plans on making more merch of Shadow the Hedgehog. However, there have been rumors that there will be a Shadow the Hedgehog movie as a result of the success of the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie, and I honestly hope that is true. Even though last year was the Fearless Year of Shadow, I probably would not complain if we got more Shadow the Hedgehog games, or games of other Sonic characters. Most Mario side characters have their own series’. Donkey Kong has the Donkey Kong Country games, Luigi has Luigi’s Mansion, Wario has WarioWare and Wario Land, Yoshi has Yoshi’s Island, and Diddy Kong has Diddy Kong Racing. Before Shadow Generations last year (which was packaged with Sonic Generations), the last Sonic game that starred one of his friends was Shadow the Hedgehog from 2005 (not to mention that before that, Tails and Knuckles got obscure games on obscure SEGA consoles), and now that Sonic the Hedgehog is getting popular again, they could probably make a game with Knuckles going on his own adventure, a Team Chaotix detective game where they solve mysteries and those cases are connected by the end with a final boss, or make a Big the Cat fishing simulator. I feel like another Shadow the Hedgehog game would be cool and would probably be good, but I would rather have another character take the spotlight if it is a new game.

Lastly on AA News Part 1, the trailer for Marvel’s Wonder Man just came out. In Wonder Man, Simon Williams is an actor, and he wants to play the character, Wonder Man, in the remake of Wonder Man. Simon Williams auditions and gets the part. Also, Trevor Slattery (the fake Mandarin from Iron Man 3 who was an actor) appears to be a rival to Simon Williams. Wonder Man looks interesting. It looks like it is going to be almost like a satire of superhero movies and the film industry in general. One of the posters literally addresses superhero fatigue, so if it goes in the direction of making fun of superhero movies and shows and the superhero fatigue in general, I think it would be solid. One of my favorite television shows out there is Sonic Boom, and that makes many self-aware jokes about how the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise was not doing well at that time. If Wonder Man does almost the same as Sonic Boom, I would not complain. As for the trailer, I thought it was solid. It did a good job at showing what the show would be about, and the joke about Trevor Slattery being a terrorist was funny (rare Iron Man 3 affecting the MCU moment). Also, I think it is funny how they got the guy who played the President of Boravia from Superman (2025) as the director of the Wonder Man movie. I guess Hawkgirl dropped him so hard that he went to another universe. Overall, the Wonder Man trailer came out, and it looks promising. Wonder Man comes out in January 2026, so I may review it.
