This past weekend, on Saturday, September 6th, the Celie Ulm North and South Invitational was held at Ascension, from 8 am to 6 pm. This tournament happens annually, in memory of Coach Celie, and all proceeds go to the Lega-C foundation. The Lega-C foundation awards scholarships to senior volleyball players and keeps Coach Celie’s legacy present throughout Acadiana. Ascension’s Varsity volleyball team played Ruston, Byrd, Benton, and Northwood. The team won their games against Ruston and Northwood in two sets! Allison Haskins, senior setter and right side hitter, said, “This tournament showed our abilities to come together as a team with good energy to represent Coach Celie. It was the seniors’ last Coach Celie tournament, and it was very fun! We hope to carry this energy into the season.” The Varsity team plays next week at home on Tuesday, the 16th, against Sacred Heart, and on Wednesday, the 17th, at home against Pineville!
