Friday Night Lights!

It’s everyone’s favorite time of the year, football season! Students and parents pack the stands every Friday night to watch some Blue Gator football. To show our Gator spirit, every home game prefect Annie Mouton and cheer captain Faith Robinson choose a theme for the students to dress up in. At the end of the 2018-2019 football season, Ascension lost eight starting seniors. This year we have twelve seniors who are ready to fill their shoes!

Last Friday, August 30th, the Blue Gators and their fans traveled to Eunice, Louisiana to play Opelousas Catholic in the annual jamboree. A jamboree is a scrimmage that does not count for the season but gives the players a chance to jump back into season. This also helps with school spirit, involving the students and parents. Since it was an away game, there was no theme but understood to dress in blue gator attire. Not as many students went, due to it being an hour away, but as always, the parents were very supportive and packed the stands.

The ending score between the two teams was 21-7 with Opelousas Catholic for the win. It was overall a very good game, but there is always room to grow and improve. Senior and free safety Andrew Stolzenthaler commented,” We did not play to our full potential; we need to work harder as a team and need to put all that we learned from the coaches onto the field.” We can only go up from here, go Blue Gators! Come out and support the Blue Gators on September 6th against Erath High School!
