Favorite Ascension Memory: Winning the 2017 Tennis State Championship

Future Plans: Play college tennis

Alyse Cormier has won the state singles title 3 times for Ascension, and one at her old school. After much thought, she decided that the 2017 state tournament was her favorite. She started the 2017 season by being undefeated in regular season matches, then going on to win the regionals title. When it came time for state, Alyse says “I was beyond excited to go to state.” She says that she was ready to go compete because she felt confident in her abilities to win the championship for Ascension, which she did. She won the finals with a score of 6-1, 6-1 and she says she felt “excited that she could provide Ascension with victory, and her team with hardware.” Continuing the dynasty that the Ascension girls tennis team has, Alyse has won state every year and helped her team get the hardware they seek every year. When asked why she chose 2017 as her favorite state championship out of the many she has won, she replied “Winning state in 2017 was my favorite because I was welcomed onto the team by all of the players. I made friendships worth a lifetime, and it is a story that I will never forget.” She is going into the 2019 season confident and excited, already looking forward to the state tournament.
