Laura-Anne Franques is the current Arts prefect at Ascension. As the Arts Prefect, Laura-Anne is in charge of things like the transition music, homecoming concert, arts festival, and Christmas karaoke. What inspired Laura-Anne to run for prefect was being a sister to three former prefects, the desire to be a leader for her school, and she wanted to take on the new responsibility of being a role model to others. So far, being a Prefect has taught Laura-Anne the importance of time management. This year Laure-Anne hopes everyone can have a memorable year and enjoy all the fun games herself and leadership put on. Something students may not know about being a prefect is, “While it’s hard work, it’s rewarding which makes all the hard work worth it,” says Laura-Anne. During Laura-Anne’s journey as Arts Prefect, someone who has inspired her is Annie Boudreaux, who currently serves as Lead Prefect. Laura-Anne says, “I strive to work as hard as Annie. She is so organized in everything she does!” Laura-Anne’s advice to anyone who is thinking about running for Prefect in the future is, “Don’t be intimidated by the title! If you want to do it, do it, set your mind to it, work hard, and know you are fully capable!”
Thank you Laura-Anne for these words of wisdom! You are such a leader to this school and I’m so glad I get to share a little bit of your story on Authored Ascension!
