President Donald Trump. The world would never have thought that they would be hearing that name, especially for an outspoken American businessman becoming the new president of the United States. On Friday, January 20, 2017, Donald Trump became the 45th president of the United States and pledged his duty to our country. “Make America Great Again” is Trump’s underlying motto for his presidency, expressing that he has big plans and changes he wishes to bring to America. For his first day in office, Trump signed executive orders concerning the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. His plan is to repeal and replace Obamacare with an affordable and structured health care plan. Other steps he plans to take include putting the American people first and seeing to our own needs before looking to other countries troubles. For instance, Trump plans to stop jobs from going overseas and give it back to the American people. He wants more things made in America, so that the money generated through production stays in America. Furthermore, Trump wants to stop sending American dollars to outside national militaries for their protection; we need to save our money for our own country. Seeing to the younger generation’s needs, Trump plans to repair the faulty educational system by distributing a federal investment of $20 billion towards school choice, which would provide parents with more control over the type of education that their children receive. With all of these changes that he has made so far, it will be interesting to see the other changes that he has planned and if they go as anticipated.
